We developed Into Optics to level the playing field, at a time when optom resource is at its most challenging. It’s our aim to provide all stores with the tools needed to reach and inspire the next generation of optical talent whilst diversifying the opportunities available for those entering the profession. In doing so, we hope to build an industry-wide community, where business leaders and students can come together to secure the future of the profession.
Gemma Drake
Early Careers Specialist and Founder
Gemma Drake is an early careers consultant specialising in optics and healthcare, with over 14 years of experience in the optical industry. She has worked with more than 25,000 students, supporting their transition into the workforce, and has collaborated extensively with employers, universities, and professional bodies to elevate optics and STEM careers. Gemma's journey began as a first-generation university student and a leading advocate for youth engagement, particularly for those from diverse and low-socioeconomic backgrounds. She co-developed the award-winning ‘New Dimensions’ programme in collaboration with the College of Optometrists, and during her seven years at Specsavers, developed and launched their first school outreach initiative and supported pre-regs nationwide.
Gemma works directly with our members to solve their future talent challenges and build their talent pipelines.
Leanne Casey Support Manager
Leanne is an experienced healthcare specialist with over 10 years’ experience in patient support and administrative roles within childcare settings. Most recently, she served as an NHS healthcare visitor, managing patient records, coordinating care for mothers and babies, and demonstrating meticulous attention to detail in all aspects of her work. Leanne's strong background in healthcare administration, along with her commitment to efficient operations, makes her a valuable asset to the Into Optics team.
